EcoCamp Serbia 2012
The Pangaea EcoCamp 2012 is about creating emotional bonds between Serbian primary school children and nature. During a five-day EcoCamp the 8th graders from the two schools ‘Kraljevacki Bataljon’ and ‘Svetozar Markovic’ are invited to Serbia’s most beautiful national park, named Tara. During one week of adventure the students will be undertaking a wide range of activities that will help them connect to the environment and spent an unforgettable time in nature. Among many other exciting actions the kids will do some rafting, treasure hunt, night-hikes and fire-bred in the evenings. Alongside all the adventurous activities there will also be several educational parts. These will entail activities such as visiting a local farm, learning about nature by a local ranger and several games in nature that will teach the kids relevant facts about the forest and its inhabitants. The one and most relevant objective of this project is to make this EcoCamp as exciting and adventurous as possible - assuring that the kids will remember their nature-experience for a lifetime. Hence they can return to their schools as “ambassadors of nature” and further promote environmental awareness among their classmates and peers.

Pangaea Act Projects around the world
Baltica Project
The Baltica Project is an initiative that incorporates environmental education, action leading to preserving a unique region with adventure – crossing over the last of the European great lowland rivers, which at least partially retained its natural character.
We will travel on a raft made of PET bottles and other recyclable materials. The total lenght of the route is 861km between Krakow and the Baltic Sea. On the way, the participants of the project will document the beauty of the valley of the Vistula river, carry out measurements on water purity, share their newly acquired knowledge with all encountered people who would only show interest. We planned various activities along the river: clean-ups, promotion of healthy lifestyle, presentations about the expedition and the importance of water in human life. We hope to share our passion for ecology and travelling with Poles and make them realize the beauty and significance of the Vistula River. The expedition will come to an end in Gdańsk, where the raft will be dismantled into pieces and all the materials used for the construction will be recycled. But it is not the end of the project! The participants will share their knowledge about the river with Polish students, organise photo exhibitions and lectures on the topic of recycling and ecological issues of Poland.
Je le fais pour mon Valais
Je le fais pour mon Valais is a project which aims to raise public awareness about ecology. The project also includes four actions per year.
Using a website (www.jelefaispourmonvalais.com) and a Facebook page the project gives the opportunity to the inhabitants of the Valais (a part of Switzerland) to register all their daily ecological actions. This gives value to all those actions, because people often don’t act for ecology as they think nobody around them makes these small actions so they have the feeling that they are alone... With Je le fais pour mon Valais people realize the true value of those actions.
Four times a year, the association Je le fais pour mon Valais organizes a day about an environmental action and public awareness. The themes of these days are water, waste, electricity and food. The association, created in November 2011, lives through donations and it’s possible to join the project and become a member of it.
Generation Green
Since winter 2010 a group of motivated and enthusiastic young people meets up weekly, to discuss environmental themes, to have fun while caring about our environment and mainly to act locally. They are called the “Generation Green” of Darmstadt!
They are teenagers between 13 and 16 years trying to spread our message! This summer is going to be an eventful summer: the group organized in cooperation with WWF and parties from Darmstadt an event for Earth Hour, they got in contact with their politicians to discuss about their environmental policy and named them their own advices/wishes, they work together with local schools to explore and learn, but mainly to act. Generation Green also organize flash mobs like “critical mass” where as many people as possible meet up monthly to cycle with their bikes through the streets, but also running events and demonstrations to raise awareness on ways how to minimize ones ecological footprint. And there are still thousands of other ideas remaining!
Eco Club in the Black Forest - Planet Erde AG
Returning from an Expedition to New Zealand, Young Explorer Simon Straetker realized that the beauty he had discovered in the fiords of New Zealand could also be found in his backyard. Living in the black forest, a beautiful nature reserve in the south west of Germany, Simon started an eco club at his school. Eversince its establishment in 2009, the eco club has worked with more than 40 children, educating them about nature, exploring the black forests beauty and actively engaging in conservation.
